Alternative vase ideas
Even if you don't own a single vase, you can still enjoy cut flowers. Here's some great ideas when you're stuck:
- Raid the kitchen:

Jugs, teacups, dishes and jamjars can all be used for flowers; even the shortest-stemmed daintiest flowers can look impressive this way. Group a selection together on a tray. Slice the top off a pepper or aubergine; or cut an orange in half for fun tablecentres.
- Drink up:

Wine, beer, olive oil and mineral water bottles come in interesting shapes and colours. Choose flowers with large heads like gerbera, lilies, roses or anthuriums - put one stem in each bottle and line them up for instant glamour. Simple, fast and stylish!
- Dress it up:

Pop a drinks glass or jar inside a gift bag or handbag - or even a legwarmer! - to hold water for flowers.
- Play around:

Try a child’s seaside bucket, a mini watering can, an old wellie! So if you’re on the move, you can still take your flowers with you.
